Course Objective
This course is conducted on the basis of IATA guidelines. It is designed for travel industry professionals whose job profile requires them to sell international air transportation on behalf of IATA member airlines. Students can learn through realistic GDS simulation on Amadeus.
This course is recommended for:
basic knowledge of the global distribution system, Amadeus | secondary/high school diploma | basic understanding of written English, Mathematics & World Geography
This is a self-teaching computer-based training (CBT) programme that teaches basic and advanced fare construction principles, as well as GDS entries to price journeys and issue tickets.
- understand mileage system pricing
- learn to interpret & read all GDS displays
- understand global indicators
- apply minimum-fare rule checks
- learn to add a manual fare to a GDS booking file
- use the lowest combination factor
- learn to use the IATA/UFTAA fare formula to correctly price a journey
- identify & price different journey types (including round – the world journeys and journeys travelled in different classes)
- understand fare rules & air fare taxes
- learn how & when to use side trips
- read each field of an ATB ticket
- construct and read a linear fare construction
- use GDS to issue tickets for manually priced reservations
- Introduction to air fares – analysing itineraries & retrieving fares from GDS
- Introduction to the mileage system
- Itinerary pricing with different types of journeys
- Limitation of indirect travel, side trips & surface sectors
- Backhauls, circle trips, journeys in different classes of service and alternate fare break points
- Lowest combinations, around the world journeys, sales indicators & minimum checks
- Currency conversion, taxes & ticketing
Upon successful completion of the final exam, you will earn the IATA International GDS Fares and Ticketing Certificate with world-wide recognition
